Courses for High School students

We offer online French courses for high school students. Whether your proficiency is at an intermediate or advanced level, our courses are guaranteed to challenge you and improve your skills.

All teachers have undertaken a Working with Children Check (Queensland Government requirement) and are blue-card holders. 


Australian Year 12 or Final year equivalent

Extension course – Level B1

If you enjoy French and are assessed by your teacher as being ready to tackle B1 level tasks, this course is for you. You may have spent some time in a French-speaking country (3 to 6 months) or had other opportunities to extend your learning. If this sounds like you and you are ready for a challenge you are most welcome to join our extension course.

Course duration: 13 weeks.

Class format: one-hour weekly tutorial. To achieve the course objectives you will need to spend an hour outside of class completing activities set by your teacher.

Objectives: the course aims to develop your French language skills to intermediate level and enhance your ability to communicate across cultures. During the tutorials the focus will be on your oral skills. Online activities will be provided on the learning platform to help you develop your reading and writing skills. On completion of the course you will be able to express your opinion with more spontaneity and demonstrate knowledge of intermediate-level grammatical concepts including some past tenses.

Australian Year 12 or Final year equivalent

French-speaking background student seminar – Level B2

If you grew up speaking French or did part of your schooling in a French-speaking country but feel your reading and writing skills are lagging behind this course is for you.

Minimum prerequisite for this course: B1. If you haven’t reached this level you may consider enrolling in the Year 12 extension course instead.

Course duration: 13 weeks.

Class format: one-hour weekly tutorial. To achieve the course objectives you will need to spend an hour outside of class completing activities set by your teacher.

Course objectives: the course aims to develop your vocabulary, grammatical knowledge and ability to understand a variety of genres of a more complex nature (editorials, administrative texts for example). Your teacher will focus on your reading and writing skills but attention will also be paid to the quality of oral interaction. On completion of the course you will be able to understand and communicate ideas in writing on a range of topics using more complex language and you will have developed strategies to continue your learning independently.
